We are going to be talking to the superintendant of our school system. We will be asking him questions about…………….. we are the first inpression he will have on our schools. We will be recording what we say, and the questions. The cool thing is that only four people will be talking and the rest of us are going to type in any questions that we think of, and those four people will ask the furure superintendant.

OK, so if you haven’t read my softball starts today post, then you will now know that my softball season started on Sunday. WE WON. We actually squashed them. The score was 21 to 3. We didn’t even play the whole game. We travestied the team in the fifth inning.

Then I had a game yesterday, and we won. We had to play one extra inning though, so the game didn’t end until 10 at night. I am so tired right now.

This has nothing to do with me and my softball games. The Yankees are not playiing well right now and I’m upset. At least they won last night though.

OK, I have not had a chance to work on the essay yet. I’ve had too much homework, sports travel, no extra time.

I will post it once it’s done…

I think.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited because softball starts today! Today is our opening day! Here’s what happens-

  1. I get to the feilds with my little sister, who also plays, and we go wait with our teams.
  2. Then each team leaves the field to walk to another felid for the opening ceremony.
  3. then we go get out pictures.
  4. at 12:30 my team meats at the field we are going to have our first game at and we warm up and have a short practice.
  5. at 1:oo THE GAME STARTS
  6. at 3 or 5 (no idea which one yet) I go watch my sister play
  7. go home

So, I asked my Mom, who is my assistant coach, who would be the team that would be hard to beat, and she said my team. Cool, right.

If the Electoral College was abolished, what should the qualifications be to vote in a Presidential Election?
If the Electoral College was gotten rid of, I think that everyone above the age of 16 should be able to vote. However, you would have to have a driver’s license to vote. Your license would be the line to show you are able to vote. also, it would not required to vote, because that way people who have no idea what they are voting for won’t just pick the person they want to win for some other reason than the government.

Do you think the United States government should become more or less democratic?

I think the government should stay the way that it is. Poeple vote, we have a President who makes all of the big descisions, and the way we elect our President is good, too. Although, I think the voting age should be 16.

OK. I decided not to do the contest because half of the judging is how well you speak in front of people and I don’t do that too well.

However, I will post the essay when I’m done writing it. I didn’t finish it yet. I gave up half way through.

OK, so I am going to be writing an essay for an essay competition. I’m not so sure if I want to do it or not. I’m not so sure that I want people to know about the secret I hid since sixth grade. Some people know it and they should know who they are. If I do decide to enter I will post the essay.

My family does all that we can to be greener. We will turn off heat (or air conditioning) a night or when we won’t be at home for a while. We recycle. We turn off our computers and TV’s when we aren’t useing them. If we go on vacation we sometimes unplug everything (clocks, radios, TV, comuters, lights) so they don’t use up electricity while we are gone, or start a fire.

So for Social Studies class, we had to do a project on the Trail of Tears. We had to choose any one of the people on THIS slide show, and write a story on the Trail of Tears from their perspective.

This is mine-

I didn’t know where I was going, and I didn’t know why. All I knew is that I was leaving, probably never to come back again. I had been dragged out of my house ,in Alabama, onto the street. Then I heard my mother calling my name. I looked toward her and I saw that she was walking towards me, leading our horse. She looked very scared and very worried. My neighbors were also being dragged out of their houses. I bean to feel scared, too. My mother made me get onto the horse. The white soldier told us to start walking. We walked until we came to a stockade, where we were herded into it like animals. We stayed there for many days. Every once in a while a new group of people would come and they would herded into the stockade with us. One day, after about a month in the stockade, the soldiers told us to start walking. We walked for a very long time. After one month it started to get cold. Many people started to get very hungry but the soldiers wouldn’t give us more to eat. One, night, I heard the soldiers taking to each other. They were saying how we were almost into Kentucky. Then there would only be Illinois, Missouri, and into Arkansas. Then into Indian Territory. We walked and we walked. Many people were dying along the way. It got colder and colder. I had to help my mother bury one of my neighbors. I was sad and confused. I kept thinking to myself “why are they doing this to us?” After about one and a half more months walking, we came to the end. The soldiers didn’t give us any help trying to rebuild our lives and I didn’t want them to. They made us leave our homes and walk for days and days. They ruined us and killed some of us. They left us and we started to build our new lives.

So, in socail studies class, we are learning about Andrew Jackson and his Presidency. We have had to do many small projects on him, like trying to see whether his childhood effected his life’s descisions and I had to summarize his election. One of the things we had to do was prove we knew things about Andrew Jackson’s presidency. Click HERE for the quiz I took. If we got more than one wrong we would fail. Only about 4 people passed, including me.

"Do you define a person by their actions or their intentions"

I think that there are many different answers to that question. I think that it all depends on the situation.

For example, in the case that this person wrote about on a blog post. The publisher of a newspaper didn’t give the school their newspapers because there was a questionable photo. Click HERE for the link to the story. I think that the publisher was right to hold back on the papers because of the photo. I think that his intentions were OK and that in this case, the intentions were more important than taking action. If he had sent the papers, the teachers may not have known to look inside of the paper, and approve the photo to be seen by students.

Also, if someone had absolutly no intention of going out and hurting someone, and then accidently hits someone with their car because they rode out on their bike and you couldn’t stop soon enough. I think, in that situation, that actions are important, but you didn’t intend to hurt anyone and that it wasn’t your fault the person rode out on their bike.

However, if you have intentions to go out and hit someone with your car and then do it, that the actions would be more important. if you had intentions to do something, that doesn’t mean that you actually have to do what you thought about doing. If you didn’t go out and intentionaly hurt someone, then your intentions wouldn’t have mattered.

What do you think. Leave a comment with your answer.

So you know this is black history month. For Socail Studied class, I had to create a movie about an important African American. OR you could have done what I did and make a google map. I was the only one in my class who did, so click HERE for my google map.

Well, I am always trying to do random acts of kindness. Other people should help people and do random acts of kindness. I am constantly seeing people help other people. I try to do random acts of kindness by picking up something that someone drops in the hallway at school, hold doors for people, and I’m asking my parents if they need help with anything (well, sometimes). I will also help my sister with her homework because it’s a chance to show her I’m smarter than her, even if she doesn’t believe me.

My wonderful place is my room. It’s a place that I can be alone or surrounded with friends. It has everything I like and I enjoy going up to my room, closing the door, and just read for a little while. There’s no TV or computer in there, so I find that I’m spending less time in my room, but it’s still my wonderful place.

Today is the first half day of 2009 for me. It was one of those go-to-school-and-you-think-you-have-a-full-day-of-school-and-then-the-principal-comes-and-says-half-day kind of half day. I was in the middle of Spanish, and I was so happy when the principal came and told my Spanish teacher it was a half day. We had to stop spanish right there and then to go get ready for lunch at 10:15.

Now I’m sitting here doing this while my sister and my neighbor are doing the Wii. I am going to go and join them after I finish my Science homework.

This is what I would say if I was elected President of the United States like President Obama-

Fellow Americans,

I stand here, overjoyed, humbled by the fact, to take over office. I hope to do well in the four years to come. What we need to do is start over; turn over a new leaf. I and the 43 other Americans before me have taken the presidential oath. We are in the middle of an economic crisis, as well as a war. We need to get out of both crises as soon as possible. Think of America as a computer. Too many things at once and it might shut down or freeze. Like the computer, if we try to fix all of our problems at once we could get worse. I will fix our problems as soon as possible, but not too fats that we shut down of freeze. I am joyful you chose me to lead this country. Thank You.

I think that the most powerful thing you could say to someone is a compliment. If someone says that you did a good job on something, then you will remember that and try to do it again. Or if someone says “Your hair looks nice like that,” you might try to put your hair up like that again. Compliments are good powerful things to say, unlike insults.
